Implant Cases From Our Own Chair

Two patients treated in our office: a fixed upper arch on All-on-X implants, and a worn, gapped smile rebuilt with implant restorations. Results vary with your bone, gums and bite.

Before and after All-on-X implants: broken, missing upper teeth replaced by a fixed full arch

How It Works

Root, Post and Tooth: How an Implant Works

A dental implant is a small post placed in the jawbone where a tooth root used to be. Over the following months the bone bonds to the post, and a crown, bridge or denture is then fixed on top. Because the post sits in bone, the new tooth stands on its own rather than leaning on the teeth beside it.

Around King of Prussia, implant care is often split between a surgical office and your regular dentist. We are one independent office, so your scan, any gum or bone work, the implant and the final tooth stay with one team.

  • The Wand® anesthesia and conscious sedation
  • Crowns, bridges and full or partial dentures on implants

Who Benefits From Dental Implants in King of Prussia

Most adults in good general health qualify. Your CT scan shows whether the jaw is ready today or needs some preparation first.

01

A Single Gap

One post and one crown replace a lost molar or front tooth without trimming the healthy teeth beside it.

02

A Tooth Beyond Repair

When a fracture or deep decay means a tooth must come out, we plan the extraction and the implant site together.

03

A Loose Denture

Two or more implants can hold a denture in place, so it stops shifting when you chew or talk.

04

Many Missing Teeth

Implants can carry a bridge across several gaps or a complete fixed arch, as in the All-on-X case above.

05

Bone Loss After an Old Extraction

Bone shrinks once a tooth is gone. A graft can rebuild the area so the post has enough support.

06

Gum Disease Brought Under Control

Infected gums are treated first. Once they are healthy, an implant has a stable foundation.

Your Options

Implant, Bridge or Denture: How They Differ

Which option fits depends on the gap, the neighboring teeth and how long you want the result to last.

What holds it
A post in the jawbone
Neighboring teeth
Left untouched
Jawbone under the gap
Kept in use by the post
Treatment time
A few months, mostly healing
Upfront cost
Usually the highest
Daily care
Brush and floss as usual

A bridge or denture costs less on day one. An implant spares the neighboring teeth and can serve for many years with good care.

Dr. Michael Strassberg, who provides periodontal care in our office

Dr. Michael Strassberg provides periodontal care on our team. If your gums need treatment before an implant, it happens here, with your scans already on file.

Dr. Silva is very knowledgeable and easy to speak with. I went for a second opinion on implants, she studied the X-rays and was able to give me her opinion at that appt.

Dr. Nelly was so kind, professional, explained everything and put in process a plan for my teeth. I get a little anxious at the dentist and Dr. Nelly put me at ease.

What to Expect

Your Implant Timeline, Visit by Visit

Most cases take a few months, and most of that time is healing at home.

  1. Visit one

    Consultation and CT Scan

We examine your teeth and gums, take a 3D scan and walk you through your options, timing and fees.

  2. If needed

    Preparing the Site

An extraction, bone graft or gum treatment comes first when the scan calls for it. Some grafts are placed on the same day as the implant.

  3. Surgery day

    Placing the Post

Dr. Silva places the implant after numbing the area with The Wand. Conscious sedation is available if you are nervous.

  4. A few months

    Healing

The bone bonds to the post. A temporary tooth can often fill the gap while you wait.

  5. Final visits

    Your New Tooth

An iTero scan records your bite. Your crown, bridge or denture is made to fit, then attached and adjusted.

  6. Ongoing

    Keeping It Healthy

Brush, floss and keep your regular cleanings. Healthy gums protect an implant just as they protect natural teeth.

FAQ

FAQ About an Implant Dentist in King of Prussia, PA

What kind of dentist should place dental implants?

Periodontists, oral surgeons and general dentists with advanced implant training all place implants. Ask about implant-specific training, in-office 3D imaging and who makes the final tooth. Dr. Silva holds a fellowship from the American Dental Implant Association and handles both the implant and the restoration here.

What is cheaper, a dental implant or a bridge?

A bridge usually costs less at the start, but it is held by crowns on the teeth on each side of the gap. An implant stands on its own and leaves those teeth untouched. After your exam we can price both so you can compare.

What helps dental implants heal faster?

Follow your aftercare instructions, eat soft foods for the first days and keep the area clean as shown. Avoid smoking, which slows healing in the gums and bone, and keep your follow-up visits.

What happens after 20 years of dental implants?

A well-kept implant post can stay in place for many years. The crown on top takes the daily wear of chewing and may need replacing at some point. Healthy gums and regular cleanings protect the bone around the post.

How far is your office from King of Prussia?

Our only office is at 399 Arcola Road in Collegeville, a short drive west of King of Prussia on Route 422. Every step of your implant care happens at that one address.

Can I get a second opinion on an implant plan from another office?

Yes. Dr. Silva will examine you and review your existing x-rays, taking new images only if needed. She then tells you whether she agrees with the plan or would suggest another option.
