Pain in the back of your mouth? Sore Jaw? Have you had your wisdom teeth removed?
Your wisdom teeth are the third molars in the back of your mouth, and the last teeth to develop in your jaw between the time you’re 17 to about 21. However, due their delayed development, they usually don’t have proper room to grow into your mouth. It is suggested that wisdom teeth be removed if they don’t fully emerge or if they grow near the nerve of the lower jaw, as this can cause them to develop sideways, only partially, or become trapped (impacted) leading to pain, infection, and gum line and/or cause facial swelling.
Sometimes it is also recommended to have the wisdom teeth removed before any symptoms arise in order to avoid it all completely. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if your relatives have a history of wisdom teeth abnormalities.
